ARTIST STATEMENT We compose in stained glass rather than paint – like mosaics but without the grout. Mahogany hardwood plywood provides our canvas. Next, a line drawing and a light painted background. Then the glass – shards and fragments of different colors and chromatic textures, placed by feel, with an occasional garnish of layers for depth and contour. The light changes, your perspective changes, and the look of the work changes too. We want to go somewhere new, using a new medium. We also use old wood windows for our canvas. We saw the harm they do when going into the land fills, and decided to put them to good use as a memory of a old window with new life and beauty. |
